An Important Message From Our CEO

Critical changes at the CDC’s Division of Blood Disorders and Public Health Genomics affecting our community.

Dear Members,

Well, they’ve done it again.

After months of watching public health programs get restructured like someone rearranging furniture in the dark, the latest shake-up has landed squarely on our doorstep. This week, nearly the entire staff of the CDC’s Division of Blood Disorders and Public Health Genomics was placed on administrative leave. And yes, you read that right. The very people who have stood with our community, championing research and public health for years, have had their work halted just when we need them most.

We’re still gathering details, but we know this could impact us in many ways.

And it doesn’t stop there, HRSA’s hemophilia program has also taken a hit, although some of their amazing team is still on board (and we are cheering them on like superfans at a playoff game).

But here’s the thing they might not realize: this community doesn’t go down quietly. We’ve been through worse. We are powered by resilience, fueled by purpose, and let’s be honest, we know how to put up a fight with style.

At The Coalition for Hemophilia B, we’re already working closely with our national partners, our policy allies, and maybe even a few over-caffeinated advocates (you know who you are). We’re not just reacting, we’re organizing.

So let’s not panic. Let’s mobilize with focus, with heart, and maybe with a little extra sass.

In the coming days, we’ll send you specific ways to take action. Because your voice? It carries weight. It opens doors. It changes things.

They may not know how strong this community is but they’re about to find out.

With hope, fire, and faith in every one of you,

Kim Phelan
