Social Media & Community Engagement Intern

Location: Remote, with occasional travel for events
Compensation: Paid Internship (Hourly)
Duration: 3-6 months, with potential extension
Hours: Part-time, flexible (approx. 10-15 hours per week)

The Coalition for Hemophilia B is a national nonprofit dedicated to serving and advocating for individuals with Hemophilia B and their families. We provide resources, education, and support to enhance the lives of those affected by this rare bleeding disorder.
Position Overview
We are seeking a Social Media & Community Engagement Intern to help us grow and enhance our brand and reach on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, and TikTok. This individual will play a key role in creating engaging content, capturing event footage, and fostering meaningful online interactions. If you have a passion for storytelling, digital engagement, and community building—this role is for you!

Key Responsibilities
Content Creation: Develop engaging and informative social media posts, including video clips, graphics, and captions.
Video Production: Capture and edit short, engaging videos at select CHB events and meetings. Content should be casual, community-focused, and easily created using a smartphone and simple editing tools like Canva, CapCut, or Instagram/TikTok editing features—no professional video production experience required.
Community Engagement: Monitor and actively participate in conversations across platforms by liking, commenting, engaging, and sharing relevant content within the Hemophilia B, rare disease, and bleeding disorders communities.
Trend Monitoring: Stay updated on social media trends, challenges, and best practices to optimize engagement.
Collaboration: Work closely with our full-time communications team to complement their existing content and ensure consistency across platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Passion for community engagement, advocacy, and digital media.
Experience with social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X/Twitter , TikTok).
Experience creating short-form video content for social media (Reels, TikToks, Stories).
Basic knowledge of social media trends, hashtags, and engagement strategies.
Familiarity with Canva, CapCut, or other beginner-friendly video editing tools.
Strong writing and communication skills, especially for crafting captions and engaging posts.
Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines.
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree or coursework in Communications, Marketing, Digital Media, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (preferred but not required).
Experience in community building, advocacy, or nonprofit work is a plus.
Connection to the hemophilia B or rare disease community is a plus but not required.
