Topic: Recognizing and Representing Women with Bleeding Disorders In our upcoming discussion on the diagnosis and care of women and girls with bleeding disorders, Dr. Kulkarni will underscore the importance of early diagnosis.

She will emphasize the use of genotyping and factor levels, and the complexities that arise when symptom severity does not align with factor levels.

During this presentation we will learn more about:

  • Under-Recognition of Symptoms: Discover why women with mild or moderate hemophilia often delay seeking care for symptoms like heavy menstrual bleeding or postpartum hemorrhage, and how these symptoms are frequently downplayed in favor of others' needs.

  • Strategies for Improved Outreach and Diagnosis: Learn effective approaches to ensure early diagnosis, appropriate treatment, and the prevention of complications for women and girls with bleeding disorders.

  • Representation in Registries: Understand the importance of including women and girls in registries, especially those without access to specialized treatment centers, and how this can enhance diagnosis and treatment outcomes.

By understanding these key issues, we'll all be better prepared to self-advocate and support the women and girls in our lives who are affected by bleeding disorders.
